Home of the Super Pacer

Welcome to the Super Pacer site

If you are interested in building your dream “bush plane” with room for 4 people, a baggage compartment and a 2100 lbs gross weight, then look at this!

About US

In the 1970’s Jim and Audrey Simpson developed a version of the “stretched Pacer”. By the late 70’s they got the design approved by the FAA as a repeatable STC. The modification is applicable for Piper PA-22-150 and PA-22-160 aircraft, (not year specific). The STCSA819SW gives the authority to lengthen the tail section to approximately the length of a Piper PA-14, and lengthen the wings to PA-14 or PA-18 length as well. It also includes a tailwheel option or Edo-2000 float installation.
The Simpsons also developed a 3” droop wingtip to finish off the lengthened and squared off wing. We have the mold for the wingtips and are currently manufacturing them from Carbon Fiber, weight is 2.4 lbs each. The flight controls remain intact with the Control cables and pulleys in the wings like the original Tri Pacer. The ailerons are already moved out to the tip in the drawings which will allow you to use a 102” ailerons and a 90” flap. There are Layers of gussets and doublers in the wings to give the gross weight increase spelled out in the plans. We have a shop working closely with us to CNC mill out the entire package of doublers which will save days of work to create these intricate pieces.
Thanks for taking a look. Contact us about obtaining use of our STC to build your certified 4 seat SuperPacer.

Some more History

When the STC SA819SW was developed it bore the name “Super Pacer” on the drawings. There were some shady guys that scammed their bosses (Jim & Audrey Simpson) by taking the plans and renaming it “Bushmaster” and starting their own business using the engineering data and drawings.

Since they didn’t get the certification from the FAA they remained experimental.

So I might never get people used to the correct name when referring to the original certified aircraft, the “Super Pacer”, however Audrey made me promise to at least let the truth be known.
